More than 16 years ago, Alexandre, Alexander and Hector faced off with one another in the inaugural Eton v Harrow Cross-Channel Swim Race. In a year marked by the global pandemic, this European trio re-united and, together with a fourth friend, took on the 22+ mile open water cross-Channel swim again. They also decided to rally support around Lighthouse Relief, a non-profit organization providing emergency relief to refugees arriving on the north shore of Lesvos. They ended up raising more than US$23k from over 160 supporters.

How are funds received?

Funds raised for your own cause will go directly to your chosen payment processing account.

Sonam was raised by farming parents in Ura, a village in Central Bhutan. He was one of the few Bhutanese students ever to be admitted to study at Oxford University, but this joyous achievement was overshadowed by financial difficulties that threatened his ability to attend. Through a network of friends and connections he raised over GBP16k via SparkRaise, which helped send him to Oxford.

We limit the countdown on cause fundraisers to 10 days. After the 10 days have completed, the campaign will automatically move to Follow-on Funding, which no longer shows a countdown on your page. While your campaign is in Follow-on Funding, you may continue to fundraise for several months on that same page and you can end your fundraising at any time after the 10 days has ended.

If your nonprofit is already a member on SparkRaise, you can create a fundraising page for free with funds going directly to the nonprofit.

If your nonprofit is not yet a member, or you are delivering funds raised to the nonprofit yourself, then you will receive funds directly. When you receive funds directly, you will be responsible for ensuring delivery of funds as described on your campaign and updates, and you will be charged a 5% platform fee on the funds raised, plus payment processing fees from PayPal and/or Stripe.

You will need to have either a PayPal and/or Stripe account in order to fundraise on SparkRaise. By connecting your chosen payment processing account to your campaign, you are able to receive funds directly.
